Peltiers
were discovered by Jean Charles Athanase Peltier
in 1822. Peltiers pump heat from one side to the
other sort of like a pump: a heat pump. Peltiers
are great to use on your cpu for that cooling
project of yours. Their are a few things that you
should know first though. The peltier has a cold
side: this goes on your cpu, it also has a very
hot side as well: this is attached to a big
heatsink and fan combo or a water cooled device,
you decide, but the watercooled rig will take
some time to build and is risky if you dont know
what you are doing. You also have to be aware of
the condensation problems associated with
peltiers: because they cool the cpu so much to
the point of freezing they will create a lot of
condensation and that means that the cpu has to
be sealed and the back of the motherboard where
the cpu sits in its socket has to be sealed as
well. If you are running a watercooled device as
well as this then it could turn into a real
headache. So if you want to take this step then i
suggest that you really do your homework on this
subject and get to know your pc better.
